Classic Beauty

I find such inspiration comes from simple elegant imagery. The creativity and imagination that goes into couture design is breath taking.

TOPSHOP X ADIDAS - 90's sportswear reigns supreme

Sports inspired pieces have been working there way in to our wardrobes for the past few seasons, from limited edition trainers to formal joggers. Now Topshop have teamed up with Adidas to create a 20 piece capsule collection of lust worthy streetwear styles.

The collection brings a feminine take to the sportswear trend, inspired by London and Iconic signature pieces – the logo and triple stripes, have all been given a Topshop twist. Infused with bold graphic prints and pretty pastel shades the collection exudes effortless cool. Reminiscent of the early 90’s when Adidas ruled supreme in streetwear cool, these pieces will surely put Adidas once again as the leaders of the pack.

"We wanted to bring some femininity to the range and make the collection fit with all your fashion staples; the beauty is in how you combine it together. We're in a sportswear revolution at the moment. Fashion is really driven by what's happening in the sportswear world, it's at the top of the radar in the fashion stakes - so to have Adidas Originals as a starting point was fantastic." Topshop creative director Kate Phelan.

Of course they are not just It fashion pieces, you can of course wear them to the gym ! Shop the full collection >

Must Have Summer Bombers

This summer it's all about the statement bomber jacket. Originally designed for US pilots in 1917 the humble bomber jacket has since become a fashion staple. Favoured by subcultures such as Mods, Ska kids and Hip Hop fans, It has now made its way to the catwalks, and to the number one must have piece of SS14. Heavily embroidered silk numbers, to more sport inspired pieces were seen across the catwalks, from designers such as Stella MCartney and Marc Jacobs.

More chic then a biker the bomber gives an effortless sharp, cool spin to any look. A must have for any street styler here is a selection of the very best on the high street.

How To Get The Burberry SS14 Look

Sugary pastels in Pink and Blue flooded the catwalk at the Burberry SS14 show. The pretty mix of femininity and candy pastel shades created the perfect summer look.

I love the heavy embellishment on the skirts, perfect for a city summer evening. To perfectly master the look pair matching skirts and tops with a pair of heels for that straight off the catwalk feel.

The Matching look creates an ultra ladylike feel, or for the fashion forward, mix and match your colour palette. For those that don’t feel confident enough for a full sorbet look pick one key item and match with a leather jacket and statement necklace for a feminine look with a tougher edge.

Pink was the standout colour at the shows and looks to make a big splash as one of the must have colours of the season. For my key items to master the Burberry look see below.

London Fashion Week Street Style AW14

On Sunday I paid a visit to Somerset House during Fashion week to take some street style photos. Its always really exciting to see how people are wearing/ setting the trends. Spring trends of Pastels, bold colours, and Checks were popular ushering in the warmer weather.
Here are a selection of some of my favourite moments, more to follow.

All images are my own.

Metallic street style

Metallics are no longer reserved for the party season; London fashion week saw a mix of mirror metallic’s and iridescent fabrics shining out at Somerset house.

Working its way from catwalk to street style, the trend was originally seen at Jonathan Saunders & Burberry’s Spring 2013 collections. With metallic dresses, skirts  & coats in an array of colours giving life to a trend that is typically reserved for Christmas parties. Now it brings a fresh opulent take to a season that is normally ruled by floral prints and pastel colours.

These street style looks show how some Fashionistas are incorporating the trend to give their look a fashion forward edge.

Predicting the Future #Topman

My dissertation was to create a marketing strategy for Topman for the next 3- 5 years.  I have noticed that Topman seem to be incorporating some of my recommendations into there marketing strategies.
Topman believe they are a music and fashion brand but this was not something that the consumer was associating with the brand.

I suggested that Topman should create a free play lists and give away music via spotify when consumers spend over £50 this would increase consumer engagement and show that Topman is more then just a fashion brand. Which essential when trying to connect to Generation Y.
Topman have recognised this and havendone something similar. They are giving away Spotify premium accounts when consumers most pictures of themselves in the new spray on jeans.

My visual mock up for Free spotify playlist.

Current Topman Marketing.

I also found that many consumers where unaware of Topman Generation the online magazine. I suggested that the brand made a physical version of the magazine, which would be given out in stores and sent out with online orders. The magazine would be interactive using apps such as Aurasma to create engaging 3d pages that link to online content and thus drive consumers to the online site.
Topman have started printing the magazine, as it seems like the logical step to increase awareness.

My visual mock up

It is exciting to see that Topman have come up with the same strategies that I developed in my marketing strategy. I will be following the brand and be keen to see if they develop any other similar ideas that I developed. Such as ‘Topman plus’ a VIP members club that rewards top spending consumers. Fashion collaborations with key music and fashion icons such as Tinie Tempa. I also developed Topman the event and a global music event using 4d projection and live music artist to create a global music festival across Topman flagship stores.
Other ideas:
  • ·      Shoppable viral music video
  • ·      More appealing/masculine models
  • ·      Access to in store play lists
  • ·      Online stylist chat
  • ·      Online style guides i.e. suit guides

Topman plus members card
